New Year

Hello all!  I'm back and in a new location, Denver, Colorado!  I moved here a few months ago and I am absolutely loving it.  My style has only changed to accomodate the weather (finally some Winter clothing).  I can't get enough of the boots, winter coats and hats.  I forgot what it was like to dress during the winter and fall after living in Florida.

I'm excited to post more pictures of my new experiences here in this beautiful state.  Stay tuned!

Apartment

Many of my posts are based off of personal fashion styles and looks, however, a form of art and fashion that is sometimes overlooked is interior design.  I have always had a passion for designing but my lack of drawing skills have kept me from pursuing it.  Interior design allows me to design without having to open up my sketch book.  From as young as I can remember I was always moving around furniture and rearranging the decor in my room.  As I got older and moved into apartments I always so excited to be able to design different rooms to my taste.  I am moving into a new apartment in a few weeks and different looks and color schemes are flowing through my mind as to what I want to do.  The room I am most excited about is going to be my living room.  I currently have a vary large, dark brown, suede sectional that is going to be my main feature in the room.

The last time I was in Denver was around the end of ski season and I was shopping around all the sales.       There was a ski jacket that caught my eye because of the colors and much of my inspiration for this room is based off of rich red and purple colors from the jacket.  I imagine bringing in those colors to the room because they will match the sectional.  Also, I want to stick to a "world theme" with designs from India because I am a fan of culture and the bohemian look.  Here are some of the colors I am working around and an inspiration of what I would like to do to the room.

Hope you like! There will be more pictures to come of the finished living room soon. Wish me luck with decorating.

T by Alexander Wang

I was out shopping this afternoon and came across a large section of T by Alexander Wang clothing. I appreciate his designs and the fact that he is a young designer and still on the rise. His line T by Alexander Wang has more affordable priced pieces and more of a laid back kind-of-feel.  His story is very interesting and you can read up more about it here.  On a day-to-day basis my fashion choices are very minimalistic, although I do have a large appreciation for prints and patterns I am very much into solids and enjoy mixing and matching different fabrics together.  Alexander Wang's designs mirror a  minimalistic feel and sticks to solid colors, which is definitely more my style. Here are some of my favorite designs from Alexander Wang and also from his line T by Alexander Wang.

Transition into Fall

It's that time of year where the nights are getting cooler and fall is right around the corner. It's not time to start packing up your summer clothes yet but planning your fall looks is on the agenda. Some of the hot trends of this upcoming season look to be deep, rich colors such as burgundy, yellows, browns and navy.  Mixing fabrics and layering is going to be big, especially during these next few months where the days are warmer but the nights are getting colder.  I always go back to Free People because they have some of the best looks for any season but with the new season approaching they have definitely hit the nail on the head with their new clothing and accessory arrivals for fall. Here are some of my favorite looks from Free People.

Dare to Wear

Girls time to pull out those one pieces from the back of your closet that you thought you would never wear again because they are back in style but with a sexy and modern twist.  Summer is right around the corner and this season one pieces have been spotted on the runway and by some of the hottest designers like L*Space, Marc by Marc Jacobs and more.  For me I don't see myself wearing a one piece on the beach because I am such a bikini lover, however, I have paired my one piece with high waisted shorts or jeans and it makes a fashionable day time outfit. Here is a new suit by one of my favorite swimwear designers, Lolli Swim.  How many of you would dare to wear this suit to the beach?

Here are some other cute one pieces that are available for this summer.  Check them out!

Alice & Olivia

Here is an evening/dinner look I put together. I'm very much into the maxi dress trend. I feel like they can look great as a casual day time look or dressed up for the night. I originally bought this dress for a family wedding this summer, but I couldn't wait to wear it! I love all the colors in the dress and I think it is a great look for summer.

Trend or Tradition?

The Navajo and tribal trend is nothing new to the fashion world, but in the last season more updated fashion pieces are starting to show up on the racks. A lot of designers are starting to jump on the Navajo trend and designers such as Rebecca Minkoff, Diane von Furstenberg, Cynthia Vincent and even discount stores like Forever 21 are following the trend. The look is nothing new and dates back to the 1600's when the Navajo people became indigenous. Personally, I am a fan of this recent fashion cultural trend that is popping up in stores and on the streets. It will be interesting to see how long it sticks around. Here are some of my favorite pieces and accessories.
